House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has released a statement following the deposition of Annie Tomasini, a former Assistant to the President. Tomasini invoked her Fifth Amendment rights during questioning related to an investigation into President Biden’s alleged cognitive decline and unauthorized executive actions.
Comer noted, “Today, the third witness in our investigation into the cover-up of President Biden’s cognitive decline and unauthorized executive actions pleaded the Fifth Amendment. There is now a pattern of key Biden confidants seeking to shield themselves from criminal liability for this potential conspiracy.”
Tomasini declined to answer questions regarding instructions she might have received about concealing information concerning President Biden’s health or handling classified documents found at his residence. She also did not respond to inquiries about possible conspiracies within the White House concerning the Biden family’s business dealings.
“It’s unbelievable that Ms. Tomasini and others refuse to answer basic questions about President Biden’s fitness to serve,” Comer stated. “There needs to be transparency and accountability, and we will continue to pursue the truth and examine options to get the answers we need.”
Reports last year suggested that senior aides including Tomasini had created “a protective bubble” around President Biden. The White House reportedly blocked their testimony when subpoenaed by the Committee. Other figures such as Dr. Kevin O’Connor and Anthony Bernal have also pleaded the Fifth in relation to similar matters.
The ongoing investigation by the House Oversight Committee also involves looking into mishandling of classified documents, with findings indicating Tomasini’s early involvement at the Penn Biden Center.
