Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services Chairman Glenn Grothman has announced a hearing titled “Sacrificing Excellence for Ideology: The Real Cost of DEI.” This session will address the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mandates on meritocracy and individual achievement in various sectors. The focus will be on how these policies may lead to preferential treatment and unlawful discrimination based on race, religion, and sex.
Chairman Grothman expressed concerns about modern DEI ideology, stating that it “sows division among Americans, silences viewpoints, undermines excellence, and entrenches racism and sexism.” He emphasized the Trump Administration’s actions against DEI initiatives in federal agencies and urged Congress to support these efforts.
The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST in the Rayburn House Office Building. Witnesses include Mr. Dan Lennington from the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, Dr. Judge Glock from the Manhattan Institute, and Dr. Erec Smith from the Cato Institute. The event will be available for online viewing.
