The Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, chaired by Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), has announced a hearing focused on transparency and whistleblower protection related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs). The hearing, titled “Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection,” will address ongoing concerns about the disclosure of UAP information held by federal agencies. It will also examine transparency issues involving the Department of Defense (DoD) and the intelligence community, as well as review the effectiveness of DoD’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO).

“The American people deserve maximum transparency from the federal government on sightings, acquisitions, and examinations of UAPs and whether they pose a potential threat to Americans’ safety. Whistleblowers who provide details on spending information and policies and procedures regarding the classification and declassification of UAPs should be able to do so without retribution. I look forward to hearing from witnesses on how the federal government can improve transparency and provide better answers on UAPs,” said Task Force Chairwoman Luna.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST in HVC-210 at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center. Witnesses include Jeffrey Nuccetelli, a U.S. Air Force veteran; Chief Alexandro Wiggins, a UAP witness; George Knapp, a journalist covering UAP topics; and Dylan Borland, another UAP witness and Air Force veteran. The event is open to both press and public with a livestream available online.
