Subcommittee on Government Operations Chairman Pete Sessions has announced an upcoming hearing titled “The Route Forward for the U.S. Postal Service: A View from Stakeholders.” This event will focus on reviewing operations of the United States Postal Service (USPS) with input from key stakeholders. The discussion will particularly emphasize the implementation of the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act and evaluate the progress and impact of the Delivering for America Plan.
Chairman Sessions remarked, “For nearly 250 years, the United States Postal Service has delivered essential mail to businesses and households across the nation. Whether in rural communities or cities, all Americans depend on this vital institution, and we are committed to ensuring it continues to serve the public effectively.” He added that Congress’s recent reforms have addressed significant financial challenges faced by USPS, safeguarding critical services while enhancing accountability and transparency within the organization.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM EST. It will take place in HVC-210 at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center. Witnesses expected to testify include Paul Steidler from Lexington Institute, Jim Cochrane of Package Shippers Association, Mike Plunkett representing Association for Postal Commerce, Thomas Schatz from Citizens Against Government Waste, and Elena Spatoulas Patel of The Brookings Institution.
