House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has issued a subpoena to Anthony Bernal, a former Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the First Lady. The subpoena requires Bernal to appear for a deposition scheduled for July 16, 2025. This action is part of an ongoing investigation by the Committee into alleged cover-ups regarding President Joe Biden’s mental decline and potentially unauthorized executive actions.

Initially, Bernal had agreed to participate in a voluntary transcribed interview set for June 26, 2025. However, after being informed by the White House Counsel’s office that executive privilege was waived for this investigation, he chose not to attend.
