House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has issued subpoenas to several high-profile former government officials, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Attorneys General, and former FBI Directors. The subpoenas seek testimony regarding crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein. Comer also subpoenaed the U.S. Department of Justice for records related to Epstein.

The action follows a recent meeting of the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee, where both Republican and Democratic members approved a motion from Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) directing the chairman to issue these subpoenas.

An amended motion by Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.), passed 8-2, directed the committee to subpoena the Department of Justice for documents related to Epstein’s case. Additional amendments were adopted by voice vote: Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) included all communications between President Biden or his administration and the Department of Justice concerning Epstein; Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) added provisions for redacting victim names and any personally identifiable information or possible Child Sexual Abuse Material.

According to the committee, deposition and record return dates are scheduled as follows:

– Department of Justice Records: August 19
– Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr: August 18
– Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales: August 26
– Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions: August 28
– Former FBI Director Robert Mueller: September 2
– Former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch: September 9
– Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder: September 30
– Former U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland: October 2
– Former FBI Director James Comey: October 7
– Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: October 9
– Former President Bill Clinton: October 14

Chairman Comer stated, “These subpoenas follow recent action by an Oversight Subcommittee, which approved motions to subpoena these records and compel witness testimony.”
