Following the passage of H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) addressed a press conference alongside House Republican Leadership. The bill aims to advance President Trump’s America First agenda by implementing several key measures.

Chairman Comer stated, “Today is a historic day.” He emphasized that the bill would cut taxes for Americans and small businesses, aiming to increase disposable income for citizens. Additionally, it allocates resources for border security and deportation of criminal illegal aliens.

The legislation also seeks to restore American energy dominance by reversing policies associated with the Green New Deal and promoting domestic energy production. Furthermore, it targets inefficiencies in government operations to enhance accountability and efficiency.

A specific focus of the bill is addressing fraud within the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program. A Government Accountability Office report highlighted cases where federal employees unlawfully added non-family members to their health plans. The new legislation aims to eliminate this abuse, projecting savings of $1.5 billion for taxpayers.

Comer expressed pride in the House’s approval of the bill and urged the Senate to act swiftly in advancing it further.
