Rep. James Comer, a congressional representative from Kentucky, expressed his critical views on the funding of public broadcasting organizations through a series of tweets. Serving in the U.S. Congress since replacing Ed Whitfield in 2016, Comer represents Kentucky’s 1st district and often features in discussions on government spending.
On March 26, 2025, Rep. James Comer voiced his concerns regarding the allocation of taxpayer money to media organizations, specifically NPR and PBS. He argued, ” NPR & PBS receive millions of taxpayer dollars. Taxpayers should not be forced to fund biased, left-wing propaganda that sells itself as ‘news.’ I look forward to them explaining to Congress today why they think they deserve Americans’ hard-earned money. @FoxBusiness https://t.co/sOFc9onS3G”.
Continuing his critique the following day, March 27, 2025, Comer shared a statement from Jesse Watters on Twitter, quoting, ” @JesseBWatters: ‘Adam Schiff had no evidence of Russian collusion but he was on NPR every day. Comer had bank records, photos, texts of the Biden clan shaking down foreign countries. It was so bad, Joe had to pardon his son just to keep him out of prison.’ @FoxNews https://t.co/742owkKsCD”.
On March 28, 2025, Comer further expressed distrust in NPR’s information dissemination, writing, “NPR told you Adam Schiff had evidence of Russia Collusion. NPR told you COVID coming from a China lab was a racist conspiracy theory. NPR told you the Biden family never received millions from foreign adversaries. Why should taxpayers be funding this left-wing propaganda? https://t.co/aMHFWEk5h6”.
