Rep. James Comer, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 1st district since 2016, recently shared a series of tweets addressing various political issues and events. Comer succeeded Ed Whitfield in this role and previously served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2001 to 2012.

On March 4, 2025, Rep. Comer highlighted incidents involving individuals released under sanctuary city policies. He stated that “A Guatemalan national burned a woman alive on a subway & NYC rejected the ICE detainer,” adding that “Denver released a TDA gang member who then assaulted police” and “Boston released a Guatemalan who raped a child.” He expressed concern over these policies by saying they “endanger our communities.” “Original quotation”

In another tweet dated March 5, 2025, Rep. Comer praised IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler for their bravery. He claimed that due to their actions, Americans became aware that “the Biden Justice Department actively engaged in a cover-up to protect the Biden family.” Comer also noted his honor in having them as guests during President Trump’s speech. “Original quotation”

Later on March 5, Rep. Comer expressed support for President Trump’s efforts to secure the border and announced that mayors from sanctuary cities like Chicago, Boston, Denver, and New York City would testify about their policies’ impact on American safety. He invited viewers to watch his appearance on Maria Bartiromo’s show at 7:20 am where he would discuss these issues further.“Original quotation”
