CITY HENDERSON: POW! has named finalists for $15,000 grant

Money 04

City of Henderson issued the following announcement on Oct. 23

Partnership of Women referred has announced the 2019 Grant finalists.

Finalists will be awarded at the Annual Dinner set for Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. at Farmer and Frenchman Winery.

The three finalists are Spottsville Volunteer Fire Department, Habitat for Humanity and The Gathering Place – Henderson Senior Center. These three were chosen after POW! members made on-site visits and thoroughly reviewed all grant applications submitted during the open grant cycle.

The three finalists will give a short no frills presentation on why they should receive the largest impact grant. One $15,000 award will be given and the runners up will receive $3,000 each based on votes of the members and tabulated by local accounting firm, Kemper CPA Group.

POW! Grants have awarded $112,000 in the first 6 years, and the 2019 recipients of $21,000 will raise the total to $133,000. POW! raises money through individual and group memberships and supporting operational sponsorships. Annually, about half the money raised is awarded to local non-profits in that grant year; the other half is invested in an endowment fund.  This endowment will allow POW! to continue to give in perpetuity, increasing its future impact.

If you have interest in becoming a member of POW! or wish to reserve a seat as a member or a guest at the annual dinner, please contact Kim Chavira by Oct. 31 at KChavira@bpp401k.com or by calling 812-453-0095.
