OCTC Foundation Hosts 6th Annual Trailblazer Event

The Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) Foundation, Inc. will host the 6th Annual Girls Empowerment Trailblazer Dinner on Thursday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m. in OCTC's Blandford Lecture Hall, with guest speaker Carey Portell.

Carey Portell has persevered through challenges after an accident with a drunk driver.

She raises cattle on her farm in Missouri and has been featured on RFD-TV's series, FarmHer, which highlights impressive women in agriculture.

As a keynote speaker, Carey motivates and inspires her audience to break through limitations, to believe in themselves, and tap into their higher power as a source of inspiration.

She hopes to teach us to thrive despite challenges.

She has written a book, Facing Life Head On: Healing with Courage, Attitude, and Gratitude.

More information and video clips of Portell can be found on her website: https://careyportell.com.

The 5:30 p.m. presentation and dinner event is geared towards middle and high-school-aged girls and their parents and guardians, but all are welcome to attend.

This free event will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at OCTC's Blandford Lecture Hall, located in the Humanities building on OCTC's Main Campus at 4800 New Hartford Road.

Portell likes to connect with women of all ages and has agreed to host a workshop, geared toward high school-aged students, Breaking through Limitations, at 4 p.m.
