Congressman James Comer of Kentucky has been chosen to serve once again as the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee for the 119th Congress. In his statement, Comer expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue in this role.

“It is an honor to continue serving the American people as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee," Comer stated. He emphasized that "the American people have made it clear they want President Trump and Congress to clean up the federal government and make it more accountable to them."

Comer highlighted that Republicans on the Oversight Committee are prepared to start their work immediately, aligning with many of President Trump's priorities. These include areas under the committee's jurisdiction such as federal civil service, government management, efficiency in government operations, federal procurement, and executive branch reorganizations.

"We will actively work with President Trump and his administration to hold the federal bureaucracy accountable and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely," he continued. Comer pledged efforts towards making "the federal government more efficient, effective, transparent, and accountable to the American people."
