Hopkins County School District had the highest enrollment among Hopkins County districts, welcoming 6,788 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Kentucky Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.5% of them were boys, and 49.5% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 77.6% of the total enrollment.

Hopkins County School District roughly covers schools within Hopkins County with its main office in Madisonville.

Among the two districts in Hopkins County, Dawson Springs Independent School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 612 students.

In the previous school year, Hopkins County School District had the highest number of students among Hopkins County districts.

Despite escaping some of the pandemic's educational disruptions, Kentucky's achievement gaps have remained an issue since 2019. In the eighth-grade reading assessments, for example, Hispanic students scored eight points lower than their white peers, and the gap reached 15 points in math. Black students fared even worse, falling more than 20 points behind and facing a failure rate nearly double that of their white counterparts.
