House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has announced the committee's first hearing of the 119th Congress. The hearing, titled “The Stay-at-Home Federal Workforce: Another Biden-Harris Legacy,” is scheduled for January 15, 2025. The committee will investigate how the Biden-Harris Administration's telework policies have affected federal workers' return to office.

Chairman Comer stated, “President Donald Trump and his incoming Administration is set to be greeted by largely vacant federal government office buildings because the federal workforce is still taking advantage of the Biden Administration’s outdated and detrimental pandemic-era telework policies.” He further expressed concerns that these policies might hinder President Trump's agenda and the delivery of essential services due to agreements made with federal employee unions.

The hearing will take place at HVC 210 at 10:00 a.m. ET and will feature witnesses including Martin O’Malley, former Commissioner of the Social Security Administration; Rachel Greszler, Visiting Fellow in Workforce at the Economic Policy Innovation Center; and Tom Davis, President of the Federal City Council. The event will be open to both public and press attendance and can be viewed online.
