Congressman James Comer has announced the opening of applications for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition, which is available to high school students in Kentucky's 1st Congressional District. The annual competition is organized by the U.S. House of Representatives to honor talented young artists nationwide.

The first-place artwork from the district will be displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol, while the second-place piece will be exhibited in Congressman Comer's office. "Every year I am impressed with the artwork submitted to my office. It’s clear that there is no shortage of talent in Kentucky's 1st Congressional District. If you are a student interested in showcasing your work, the Congressional Art Competition is a terrific opportunity, and I encourage as many students as possible to participate. I look forward to seeing the creative skills of our local students on full display," Congressman Comer stated.

Students can submit various forms of artwork, including paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography, with specific size and weight restrictions. The winning artwork must be framed if selected.

The first-place winner will also receive an invitation to attend a Washington, D.C. reception in the summer. Historically, winners have received other rewards, such as airline tickets for the reception and a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design or Tennessee Wesleyan College. Further details about the prizes will be provided by the Congressional Art Competition on their website soon.

The submission deadline is April 21, 2025. Artwork can be sent to or dropped off at several of Congressman Comer's district offices. Interested participants can find additional information and office addresses on Congressman Comer's website or by contacting his office.

For specific details regarding drop-off locations or any other inquiries, visit comer.house.gov/art-competition or call (202) 225-3115.
