The Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, led by Chairwoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), has announced a second hearing focused on the JFK assassination files. The hearing is titled “The JFK Files: Assessing Over 60 Years of the Federal Government’s Obstruction, Obfuscation, and Deception.” It aims to further explore issues surrounding the federal government’s transparency regarding classified information related to President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
Chairwoman Luna stated, “Americans are tired of the federal government’s deception and coverup of classified information that should have been made available years ago. We demand information on President Kennedy’s assassination and want to see more transparency from the federal government to win back the trust that has eroded over decades. By mandating the declassification of records on President Kennedy’s assassination, President Trump has been delivering on his promise to provide answers and accountability to the American people. This hearing will build on President Trump’s progress and examine one of the most consequential and tragic events in U.S. history.”
Scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET in HVC-210 Capitol Visitor Center, this session will feature testimony from several witnesses including Dr. Don Curtis from Parkland Memorial Hospital; Mr. Dan Hardway, a former staff member of the Select Committee on Assassinations; Judge John Tunheim, former head of the Assassinations Records Review Board; Mr. Douglas Horne, also formerly with the Assassination Records Review Board; and Mr. Abraham Bolden, a former U.S. Secret Service Agent.
Media interested in attending must RSVP by Monday at 5 p.m. ET via email as provided in official communications.
The event will be available for public viewing through a livestream.
