Panthers Test Strength at Younes Hospitality Open
The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team continued its season at the Younes Hospitality Open on Saturday. The Panthers made their first appearance in the annual event held in Kearney, Nebraska which also marked the return of Gabe Adams to the lineup.
Adams missed the opening events of the season with a mild injury, but return in style with a 3-2 mark on the day. In one of the deepest fields of the season, Adams won his first two matches by tech fall and decision. However, Adams was moved into the consolation bracket after a quarterfinal loss to Ethan Cray, 7-3.
The Panthers' 141 pounder defeated Randy McDonald from Simone Fraser in the consolation fourth round 11-5. His tournament round was then ended in the next round as Andrew Silva from Colorado School of Mines escaped with a 4-3 decision in the consolation fifth round.
Also highlighting the Panthers was Kam'Ron Shannon-Likely who finished the day with a 2-2 mark at 184 pounds. Shevan Griffith finished 1-2 at 174 pounds
The Panthers will travel to Greenwood, South Carolina on Saturday to compete in the Carolina Clash. Wesleyan will have three duals on the day, against Lander, Simone Fraser, and Glenville State.
