The City of Owensboro is excited to announce the return of Hometown Christmas with the inaugural Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 17 at 5:00 p.m.  This event is the first of many in the Hometown Christmas series, an array of festivities in downtown Owensboro designed to celebrate the holiday season.

New this year to the riverfront holiday decorations will be a bourbon barrel Christmas tree, crafted from barrels courtesy of Green River Distilling Co. that will light up McConnell Plaza.  This new element will be in addition to the traditional Christmas tree near the fountains in Smothers Park and the holiday décor along the riverfront.

The Hometown Christmas series includes the much-anticipated Dancing Lights along Veterans Boulevard, the Energy on Ice Skating rink on the pier behind the Owensboro Convention Center, the Holiday Stroll downtown, and the Hot Chocolate Hop.
