Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) announced today that Elyda Hicks, a student from Metcalfe County High School, has been declared the winner of Kentucky's 1st Congressional District's 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Hicks' winning piece, titled "Where Hope Began," will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
Rachel Greenwell, a student from Union County High School, secured second place with her artwork titled “Blue Collar Bluegrass.” Her work will be prominently displayed in Congressman Comer’s Washington, D.C. office.
Elena Pruett from Christian County High School came third with her piece titled “Derby Finish Line.” Pruett’s commendable work will adorn the walls of Congressman Comer's Tompkinsville, Kentucky office.
“Every year I am impressed by the artwork submitted by high school students from across Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District. My office received some incredible pieces of art this year and I want to congratulate Elyda, Rachel, and Elena on being selected as this year’s winners. I am excited to display this artwork in the U.S. Capitol building and my offices in both Washington and Tompkinsville,” said Congressman Comer.
