Chairman Brad Wenstrup of Ohio delivered remarks during the markup session of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic's final report, titled "After Action Review of the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Lessons Learned and a Path Forward." The 520-page document aims to guide Congress, the Executive Branch, and private sector in future pandemic preparedness and response. Recommendations for enhancing public health and pandemic responses were submitted by Chairman Wenstrup to the Congressional Record. An updated version of the final report was presented as an amendment. In support of transparency, previously unreleased interview transcripts and supplementary materials have been made available.
The transcripts include interviews with several notable figures such as Dr. Kristian Andersen, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Francis Collins, The Honorable Andrew Cuomo, among others.
In his prepared remarks for delivery at the session, Chairman Wenstrup introduced articles related to lab leak theories as potential origins of COVID-19. He requested unanimous consent for various statements and articles concerning research conducted by Chinese scientists that may have been supported by U.S. agencies like NIH.
Wenstrup expressed gratitude towards those who provided testimony voluntarily and emphasized that this report represents years of diligent work aimed at holding accountable those responsible for failures in public health systems. He praised professional staffers involved in compiling this extensive report.
"May God be with us and our future generations of Americans," concluded Wenstrup in his remarks.
