House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer addressed the committee's organizational meeting for the 119th Congress, emphasizing a commitment to combating waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government. He also welcomed new Republican members and the incoming Democratic Ranking Member.
Chairman Comer stated, "This Congress, the Committee will continue its important work: safeguarding taxpayer dollars from waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement. Ensuring the federal bureaucracy is transparent and accountable to the American people. And making sure the federal government is working efficiently for the American people."
Comer introduced new Republican members: Representative Eli Crane of Arizona, Representative Brian Jack of Georgia, Representative John McGuire of Virginia, and Representative Brandon Gill of Texas. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with them to protect taxpayer dollars.
He also congratulated Gerry Connolly on his appointment as Ranking Member, stating he looked forward to finding common ground on various issues.
The meeting included an agenda to adopt committee rules for this session of Congress.
