Comer announces military academy nominations for Kentucky's 1st District

Congressman James Comer has announced the names of eight high school students from Kentucky's 1st Congressional District who have received nominations for appointments to U.S. service academies. These students were recognized for their achievements in scholarship, leadership, and character.

“I want to congratulate these outstanding students on their achievements. These students are local leaders and will now have the opportunity to attend our nation’s service academies,” said Congressman Comer. “Each individual has demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, and character. Our community should be extremely proud of these individuals. Their desire to serve our nation’s armed services does not go unnoticed, and I wish them the best as they move forward through the appointment process.”

The nominees include Connor Andrew Drury from Mayfield attending Graves County High School, nominated to both the United States Military Academy West Point and the United States Naval Academy; Antwan Jacobe Dunmyer, Jr., from Fort Campbell attending Immanuel Christian High School, nominated to West Point; Evan Reid Foley from Symsonia attending Graves County High School, also nominated to West Point; Preston Alexander Key from Murray attending Murray High School with a nomination to West Point; Lacon Cade McKinney from Henderson attending Henderson County High School with nominations to both West Point and the United States Air Force Academy.

Additionally, Hunter William Reeves from Fort Campbell attending Fort Campbell High School was nominated to both West Point and the Naval Academy; Jackson Benjamin Smith from Hopkinsville attending Hopkinsville High School received nominations for three academies: Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and West Point; Braeden Wilson West from New Concord attending Graves County High School was nominated for both West Point and the Naval Academy.

These nominations recognize young leaders poised for potential military careers at prestigious institutions.
