On February 5, 2025, Congressman James Comer of Kentucky received the Waterways Council Inc.'s (WCI) 21st Annual Leadership Service Award. This recognition highlights his consistent leadership in addressing inland waterways and port issues. Kentucky's extensive river system plays a crucial role in transporting nearly 79 million tons of freight annually, with a value exceeding $5 billion. These waterways are vital for moving essential commodities efficiently and safely across the region.

Comer expressed his commitment to continue advocating for Western Kentucky's significant inland waterways system while working in Washington D.C. He was pictured alongside Matt Ricketts from Crounse Corporation of Paducah during the award presentation.
