House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer and Representative Anna Paulina Luna have expressed their approval of the Trump Administration's decision to release files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The move is seen as a step towards transparency for the American public.
Chairman Comer stated, "President Trump has the most transparent administration in history. President Trump is more accessible to the American people than his predecessor and his administration is releasing critical information to the American people. I commend Rep. Anna Paulina Luna for working with the Trump Administration to bring transparency regarding JFK files."
Rep. Luna added, "Today, after six decades of deception and secrecy surrounding the assassination of President Kennedy, the Trump administration is lifting the veil and giving the American people the truth. I applaud President Trump for following through on his promise of transparency to the American people."
The release follows Executive Order 14176 signed by President Trump on January 23, 2025, which aims at declassifying records concerning not only President Kennedy's assassination but also those of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On February 11, 2025, both Chairman Comer and Rep. Luna sought a briefing from officials in Trump's administration about these documents.
