House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has announced a full committee markup scheduled for March 25 at 10:00 am ET. The session will address several legislative proposals.
Among the bills to be considered is H.R. 1295, the Reorganizing Government Act of 2025, which aims to extend the President's authority to propose government reorganization plans until December 2026. Another proposal, H.R. 1210, known as the Protecting Taxpayers’ Wallet Act, seeks to impose fees on federal labor organizations for using agency resources and official time.
The Preserving Presidential Management Authority Act is also on the agenda. This bill would allow an incoming President to terminate provisions of public sector union Collective Bargaining Agreements that conflict with new Executive Orders or Presidential Memoranda.
H.R. 2174, titled the Paycheck Protection Act, proposes prohibiting federal agencies from withholding union dues and political contributions from employee paychecks. Meanwhile, H.R. 2193, the FEHB Protection Act of 2025, mandates verification of eligibility for adding family members to Federal Employees Health Benefits Program plans and allocates $80 million for audit funding.
Additionally, there is a proposal to amend the CARES Act through H.R. ___ (the Federal Accountability Committee for Transparency (FACT) Act), extending the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee's term and renaming it as the Fraud Prevention and Accountability Committee.
H.R. 2056 addresses immigration compliance in Washington D.C., nullifying local statutes that restrict cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Two resolutions of inquiry are also set for consideration: H.Res. 187 requests documents related to employment decisions involving federal employees and inspectors general; H.Res. 186 seeks information about Elon Musk’s involvement with the federal government.
The markup will take place in room HVC-210 and will be accessible to both the public and press via livestream at https://oversight.house.gov/.
