Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement Chairman Clay Higgins has initiated an investigation into the rise of "swatting" incidents targeting individuals due to their political beliefs. In correspondence addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, Chairman Higgins seeks a briefing on measures being taken to address these politically motivated attacks.

"The Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement (Subcommittee) is investigating the recent increase in 'swatting' incidents which appear to be targeting individuals based on their political affiliation," stated Chairman Higgins. He emphasized the need for information from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding their efforts to investigate these acts of political violence and ensure accountability for those responsible.

Chairman Higgins requested a staff-level briefing from both the DOJ and FBI by April 9, 2025, to gain insight into actions being undertaken to investigate and hold accountable those involved in politically motivated swatting incidents.
