Panthers Complete Perfect Home Schedule

The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team (20-5, 16-2 GMAC) destroyed Trevecca Nazarene 62-47 on Thursday evening, finishing the regular season with an unblemished 11-0 record at home. Wesleyan's women's team has been historically good at the Owensboro Sportscenter, as they won 37 straight home games spanning from 2018 to 2021. The Panthers have won 93% of their games at home over the past five seasons.

After falling to Trevecca in Nashville just over two weeks ago, the Panthers were ready to play tonight from the jump. Five straight points scored by Jordyn Barga gave the Panthers an early 13-8 lead. Freshman guard Hadley Lytton hit a big three late in the quarter as the Panthers tied the Trojans at 18 going into the second.

A huge second quarter turned the tide in the game, as the Panthers knocked down four threes to go on a 14-2 run midway through. Wesleyan outscored the Trojans 23-6 in the quarter to give themselves a resounding 17-point heading to the locker room.

The Panthers didn't lose their hot hand, as Corina Conley sunk a triple less than a minute into the half to put them up 20 points. The Trojans didn't put up much of a fight in the second half, as the Panthers continued shooting and stifling defense helped them cruise to a 15-point victory.

Shiya Hoosier gave Trevecca fits on both ends of the floor, applying on-ball pressure and poking the ball out several times, all while scoring a team-high 12 points. Barga and Tahlia Walton led with six boards each, as Walton scored 10 points and Barga chipped in nine.

The Panthers will finish up their regular season schedule with a road trip to Ohio Dominican next Thursday, and then to Cedarville on the 25th. They'll be back at the Sportscenter to host the first round of the G-MAC tournament on February 28th.
