Rep. James Comer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky's 1st district since 2016, has recently made several statements on social media regarding political and public safety issues. These statements have drawn attention to his concerns about the actions of both current and previous administrations.

On January 27, 2025, Rep. Comer expressed concerns about what he described as overreach by the Obama Administration, suggesting it may have set a precedent for the Biden Administration to allegedly target conservatives. He stated that "First Lady Melania Trump, Barron Trump, & conservatives are being DEBANKED for their political ties" and mentioned that "@GOPoversight is seeking answers."

Later that day, Comer announced an investigation into sanctuary cities across the United States. He called upon the mayors of Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York City to testify at an oversight hearing scheduled for February 11, 2025. In his words: "I am launching a @GOPoversight investigation into sanctuary cities across the United States and their impact on public safety."

The following day, January 28, Comer further criticized sanctuary city leaders for implementing policies he believes obstruct federal immigration enforcement efforts. He asserted that these policies hinder attempts to remove dangerous criminals from communities in America. He stated: "Standing in the way of efforts to remove dangerous criminals and illegal aliens from American communities will not be tolerated."
