Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement Chairman Clay Higgins has announced a hearing to address the need for improved coordination among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in combating criminal illegal aliens. The hearing, titled “Enhancing Federal, State, and Local Coordination in the Fight Against Criminal Illegal Aliens,” will focus on securing the border and protecting Americans.
Chairman Higgins emphasized the importance of collaboration between various law enforcement levels to dismantle transnational criminal organizations within the United States. He stated that under President Trump’s administration, efforts have been made to secure borders more effectively. "On January 20th of this year, the sovereignty of our nation was quickly restored," he said. Higgins highlighted that foreign gangs and cartels no longer have an open pass into the country due to stricter immigration law enforcement.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. ET in room 2247 of the Rayburn House Office Building. It will feature testimonies from Mr. Joseph Humire, Executive Director of The Center for a Secure Free Society, and The Honorable Bob Gualtieri, Sheriff of Pinellas County, Florida.
Higgins expressed his anticipation for insights from expert witnesses on enhancing collaborative efforts against trafficking networks and how Congress can support these initiatives. "I look forward to hearing from the expert witnesses before the subcommittee on ways to increase collaborative efforts and how Congress can help towards this goal," he stated.
The event will be accessible to both public attendees and media representatives and will also be available via livestream at https://oversight.house.gov/.
