House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer has announced a forthcoming hearing to examine the United States Postal Service's (USPS) finances, performance, and modernization efforts. The session, titled "Oversight of the U.S. Postal Service," will include an update from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy on USPS plans to enhance savings, efficiency, and service.
Chairman Comer stated, "The United States Postal Service is truly one of our prized national assets and so many Americans rely on it for paychecks, medications, news, e-commerce, and correspondence with loved ones." He acknowledged improvements under DeJoy's ten-year plan but emphasized that challenges remain. "Many families and small businesses around the country are still experiencing poor USPS service, resulting in unacceptable delays," Comer noted. He stressed the committee's duty to ensure reliable service for American taxpayers.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. ET in HVC 210. It will be open to both the public and press and can be viewed online at https://oversight.house.gov/.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy will testify as a witness during this session.
