The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, led by Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), has released a report highlighting the challenges posed by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) influence operations in the United States. The report, titled “CCP Political Warfare: Federal Agencies Urgently Need a Government-Wide Strategy,” critiques the Biden-Harris Administration for its lack of a comprehensive strategy to counter these tactics.

Chairman Comer emphasized the urgency of addressing CCP threats, stating, "The House Oversight Committee has exposed the CCP’s political warfare and is working to ensure the federal government formulates a cohesive strategy to combat CCP threats and protect all Americans." He criticized federal agencies for failing to adequately respond to CCP infiltration efforts, noting that many policies either ignore or insufficiently address these challenges.

The report outlines several key findings about the CCP's activities. It describes the party as a totalitarian force that not only oppresses its own citizens but also targets critics globally. Additionally, it accuses the CCP of contributing to public health crises in America through fentanyl distribution and actively seeking to undermine U.S. society.

According to the report, federal agencies have been slow in recognizing and combating this form of political warfare. The document argues that despite decades of infiltration attempts by the CCP within U.S. borders, institutions, businesses, universities, and cultural centers, there is still no unified governmental response.

Recommendations from the report urge federal agencies to utilize existing resources more effectively against CCP strategies. It suggests four main components for a successful approach: acknowledging and communicating transparently about CCP activities; rejecting generic foreign influence strategies in favor of targeted ones; enhancing knowledge depth on unrestricted warfare; and engaging with American citizens regarding these threats.

Comer calls for principled leadership willing to openly discuss CCP influences across various sectors in America as essential for reversing current trends.
